Just swapped a freshly built transmission into an 06. Fired it up. Had P0751, p0843, p0877, p0827. Checked the fluid, seemed good. Back the truck up a few feet and went forward. Got a shift range inhibited message, no reverse and harsh engagement going forward and a p0761 added to the code list.

I'm assuming I some how missed something, but I checked all my connections and don't see anything. Any help would be much appreciated.

I should have specified. I didn't build the transmission. I pulled it, the owner sent it out and I put it back in.

P0827 is an electrical problem with your up and down switch on your shift lever. Fix that first. The other codes are pressure switch manifold codes and trim solenoid code. ( electrical ) They may go away after fixing the up and down switch.

Is there a way to disable/disconnect the tap shift to eliminate it as the cause?

I double checked the plug and looked at the pins this morning. Looks OK.

Looking at pins and wires does not diagnose them. The P0827 code is already reading an open or short at the switch. Time to break out the DVOM and start checking circuits or take it to a professional.

I understand that. I was just noting that I did check for a bent pin/anything obvious etc. I'll print out the diagnostic process and go from there. :(

The truck seemed fine when it was dropped off, the owner says the Tap shifter didn't always display correctly, other than that no issues. I pulled the trans, did some other work on the truck and put the trans back in, now this.

Alright, aside from the fact that my issue was being low on fluid and I myself was out of gas at 3am.

Im curious as to why you pointed me in the opposite direction of what the repair manual does for that set of codes. Is there a method to the madness? Or were you just torturing my dumass?

If you have the "repair manual" then you know everything about the allison, not sure why you asked your question here if you didn't want the answer...

Why would you think I would do something like that?
The fact that the tap shifter didn't work some of the time is your P0827 code electrical. I also told you that the other codes were valve body codes. It was low on fluid and the Allison valve body does not work well when fluid is low.
Now tell every one how I gave you bad info.

Uh, I don't see how having a book or access to diagnostic software makes you an expert anymore than owning a gun makes you a great shot.....

No sir, and I dont feel thats what happened. I just wondered a bit when I read thru the diagnostic tests why your thoughts seem to lead in a different direction. I'm only asking because I thought there was possibly something more to learn here.

So far I've got, 21 quarts is not enough, go to bed and start fresh the next day instead of fishing for an easy answer on the web, don't ask Mike L. if he's screwing with you when he assumed your were cognitive enough to properly check the fluid level.

I just did my Allison. Took right at 20qts with stock pan and new convertor.

When I put mine back in it took less than a 5 gallon pail with re using the converter.

I'm thinking the 5 gallon pail I got was short. This truck took the 5 gallon pail and 7 quarts.
