I have a few questions. One how do I know my FPR is bad? Some talk about a lope at idle. Mine seems to have a real slight one. Can someone check that with a Soleus? Also my glow plugs. Truck does not want to start when the temps get into the low single digits. Never used to be that bad. In fact I never have plugged it in as much as I have this winter. If they were bad would the truck throw a code? Or is there really no way to know other than startup performance? Just looking into a few things. Might have myself some projects this summer.

The lb7's don't throw a GP code. You would have to ohm test them to know. Or pull them and bench test them. I ohm tested mine and had two that were wicked bad.

As far as FPR goes... Search bottle test on here I believe I remember seeing an amazing writeup on it once before.

How do you ohm test them?

I used my dvom and hooked one lead to where the GP bar bolts to and the other lead to battery ground and read the ohm reading with the GP still in the block. I've been told anything over 1ohm is out of spec.

I had two that were 2.2 ohms so I replaced them and since then it starts much better.

My LB7 throws a Glow Plug code, P0380.

Is that just the CA version, since the Federal ones have the bussbar?

Did you replace only the bad ones or did you just replace them all?

I only replaced the two bad ones and it fixed my hard start below 0 I was having. They were $26 each at the dealer with my discount :(

Usually you just replace the bad ones. It isn't like injectors where they are a pain to get to. Might as well just do one at a time. I've been doing one at a time for years, on several trucks, with no ill effects.

What brand are the ones from the dealer? The parts store has bosch and a few other brands. Could also get AC delco from Rock auto. I will likely have to replace those connecting straps since mine are super rusty and frail looking.

AC Delco from the dealer.

I went and asked my parts guy to look em up again. The ones I got were Bosch from a GM dealer. so maybe they carry both?

the straps are about 30 bucks a piece but i bet a member has a set you could grab pretty cheap i bet.
