found a cut wire on used truck purchase

found this wire that was cut or maybe got ripped some how but i cant find where the wire is going to only where it is connected to here are some pics, any ideas on why this is?

Connects to the WIF sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter (water in fuel sensor)

Looks like it got ripped out of the bottom of the wif sensor or cut off

why would it get cut? and is it a big deal?

The previous owner was a hack and the sensors are notorious for not working. I wouldn't worry about it.

Most people just unscrew filter from the top not knowing about the wires. Twist them right off.

Is there an aftermarket filter and or housing on it? A lot of the better filters dont use the WIF sensor.

Huh? No that's the stock housing.

OP, I wouldn't worry so much about how those wires are broke with the purilator fuel filter you have on there. Get an ac delco at least a steel canister filter on there.

And those wires don't hurt anything. I take mine off first thing and then order a wif sensor plug to do away with it all together
