while the 6.6-liter Duramax is based on a legacy architecture that's right at the limit of its performance envelope.

Yeah, that's funny.... Since power levels are rated at the crank from the factory, a Duramax with a Predator on 120 puts more than 400HP out at the crank... And that's MILD these days . I'd imagine a Duramax with a GOOD +120 (or so) tune would run a loooong time without issue. Heck, my truck dynoed 446/820 at the wheels with 140k on the clock and it's weak compared to many here :D.

The only limit I could see is the turbocharger.

If it is similar to what comes on the LMM's

Yeah it can make more power but can it tow all day long with a ton of emmisions garbage and keep the EGT's down to an idiot proof level

well i did a little test to see exactly how idiot proof my truck was stock towing 15k on the back ( before the lift and tires, basically jsut edge with attitued was all that was done to it) i left it on the stock setting and held it WOT up a 6% grade to see what the egts would hit. she got to 1600 really quick and held at 1700. pretty sure thats a little high to be runnin stock :D
