What are your thoughts about em ? Thinking about getting a 2018 raptor, never been a ford fan but I like the raptors, thinking about trading in the Denali for a raptor, I don’t haul anything anymore, and probably buy an older Duramax something that’s tunable, since there’s nothing for the l5p yet

Overpriced mid travel trucks.

Unless you plan to actually use it off road and set the suspension up properly, they are glorified f150’s.

I hear that ecoboost is pretty sweet. My son has a FX4 eco and loves it. There is a diff with the raptor. https://www.torquenews.com/4000/difference-between-2017-ford-raptor-vs-2017-f150-ecoboost

The braking on original raptors was considered worst vehicle ever tested by car and driver if I recall. I'm a diehard Ford guy from way back, and all Fords have JUNK brake rotors from factory. Drove an 18 rental mustang eco 4cyl last month, only 13k miles, brakes were all ready shot.. Which reminds me, the wife's car needs a set of rotors this week too. LOL

I personally like the whole Raptor package. But as mentioned above, your paying for a suspension most people will never use. The added height and tire size doesn't help your mileage either. So guess it depends on how, and how much you plan on driving it.

Overall they are good motors with the eco boost

If you like the look I say go for it.

We have one at work currently though. A new one with low miles. Cab is in the air and they are replacing the engine in it. Timing system had a gremlin and decided to let loose.

My brother in law has one and loves it. I've driven it and it's the smoothest riding truck I've ever been in. Big tires and huge suspension that works perfectly. ecoboost is powerful but it does have a bit of the familiar to us turbo lag. Overall a great truck.

What about retail value do they depreciate pretty quick or they do hold its value like a Duramax ? Reason asking it’s cause if I don’t like it within a year I’ll be switching back to a newer Duramax. If there’s tunning for it

Price is dependent on location. Where you are, it may or may not hold value.

Stock suspension is great on the street but off road the valving is waaaay too soft. For cruising decent dirt roads, that’s good but if you actually want to use the thing at speed, you will bottom out left and right.

The shock bushings wear out fast in them and the rear locker has a tendency to blow if you are rough on it. I agree with the brake comment as well.

How exactly do you intend to use the new truck off road? The reg f150 is extremely capable with just an upgrade in front coil overs from icon or anyone as well as the rear end. The raptor just has more “potential” off the bat.

I like raptors, they are a bad ass idea but they need work to actually be used comfortably. My tracker runs circles around them in the rough and I’ve got all of 200hp.

Honestly I’d say to look at a reg f150 or Chevy 1500. There are soooooo many mid travel and long travel kits for either truck if you decide you want to start pushing the truck off road. And you want have near that into the truck as a raptor.

Get a loaded up f150 with the little powerstroke diesel. :D And get it with the blue jean exterior color and black leather interior. Then, when you're done with it in a year and ready to go back to a dmax, sell me the f150 at a great discount. :hello:

Here's my advice. If you want a raptor then buy a real raptor. You could get an f150 and soup it up but it will never be a raptor. And to some people that matters. After riding in and driving one I don't see how you could be disappointed.

Lol I like the way you think man honestly I think it’s only the itch of having a raptor. Probably I’ll last a year with it

guy i work with spent $91,000 on one and brought it to work and got beat by another guys F-150 eco boost hahahah, yea it may be able to jump the road but it is still a V-6 and i wouldn't trade my truck for it.

I did drive it around and beat on it for a bit, it was fun, but for the money they go for i like a 8 cyl diesel
