can I use the new EFI bootblock and firmware in the Flashscan with a previous version of EFI on another computer? can I also just update the V8.1 on the old computer without updating the v7.5 to the newest build? Thanks.

You'll need the latest V8.1 to get the new firmware and bootblock to upgrade. Make sure you read the upgrade document to ensure your bootblock and firmware match the table included - if you mismatch these you could cause serious problems with your unit (most of which are recoverable)
You can try and mismatch with eariler V7.5 software, but it's not recommended. If you encounter any problems our first line of response is that you'll need to update all of your software to the latest versions so we can offer assistance.
FWIW the update released on Oct 30th is a full install with a new installer package. Once that update is done, future updates are just "add on's" so you are only downloading and installing small packaged files not the whole install so download times and bandwidth usage should be minimal.

thanks cindy.....i have the old july versions on my laptop but just got another laptop and downloaded the new stuff off the site onto it and am going to update the firmware and bootblock in the V2. i just was scared to screw stuff up on my older laptop since a lot of people reported issues with updating to the new versions.
