Just got my V2 and I have a few questions. I was able to setup the V2 and get my base tune out of my truck via BB. While I was in there I tried to log balance rates and rail pressure. When I returned to my computer under efi explorer I couldnt find the saved log files on the V2. Under tune I found my stock tune, but under scan there were no logs files. Where did they go, or more so what did I do wrong?
Also what hardware requirements are needed to run scan and tune. Im looking at a netbook to keep in the truck. with my V2 so I can do more with the software. Will a netbook with an Intel atom 1.6, and 1gb ram running windows Xp run EFI Live.
Finally, would creating a ground strap for your laptop and grounding the laptop to the truck make it so you can power the laptop with the V2 connected? Im just trying to eliminate the problem, since my current laptop last all of 30 minutes without a battery.

I had the same problem with my laptop battery. The problem with powering your laptop while flashing is that some AC inverters "float" the ground, and/or some laptop chargers "float" the ground, which can lead to weird transient voltages from the laptop ground to the truck ground. The easiest path from the laptop ground to the truck ground *should* be through your power supply/inverter, but sometimes that is too hard, so it will go through the FlashScan. If there is enough voltage between them, it will damage the FlashScan V2 or laptop. In theory, a good ground strap would protect your V2, but it might still cause a large amount of current to drain through your laptop ground, hurting something in the laptop.

Your best bet, IMO, is to either:
- get a new battery (I got a Chinese knock-off on ebay for like $25 that works better than the factory battery)
- use a DC-DC converter. These usually don't "float" the ground, so your laptop ground is already equalized with the truck ground, protecting the V2 AND the laptop. I got one of these on eBay pretty cheap (more than a battery, though), and it never causes any problems when flashing. IIRC EFILive said these are the only type of power adapters allowed while using the FlashScan.

Overall, I think you'd be happier with a generic replacement battery. It should be cheap (check eBay), and you'll love being able to use your laptop as a laptop again.

Finally, regarding the missing logs: do you have a SD card in the V2? If so, they may be on that. You might have to check both the internal memory and the SD card for the logs. You can choose where they are saved in the settings of the V2.
