fluid pumps suck!

So after I found my xfer case fluid needed changed I grabbed oil to change the Tcase and both diffs.

I also one of those hand pumps to help push the fluid.

Every time I pumped it, fluid pissed out of the top of the plunger. I did the xfer case and rear diff and made one hell of a mess... after being frustrated, I have done the front diff yet. Any suggestions for a better way to fill the front diff?

it felt like that's what I was filling it with... shit was going everywhere. I'm sure that little plastic pumps isn't designed to push engine oil, but it was even struggling with 5w-20.

Mine is from Napa, works great.

I use one of those big metal funnels with the flexi spout, hold it up in place with a wire and pour away, works good with 90 wt gear lube too. You could use a funnel with a plastic hose shoved on it also.

I have a harbor freight one. Works just fine and can empty a 1 gallon jug of 15w40 in like 15 pumps.

I think the quality control on those little pumps varies a lot. My buddies bought one from Wal-Mart and one from advance auto that both work great. I bought one from oreillys that was a leaking pos, I ended up pumping almost a quart on the ground. They all 3 looked identical

This is what I have been using for a few years now. Works great.

5/16"OD x 3/16"ID clear hose from Lowes. Cut the gear oil top enough to slip the hose over the end and use the gear oil cap on the other end of the hose to keep stuff out or gear oil from getting on something.

I use an old 1 gallon oil jug, cut a hole in the top of the cap, and feed one tube from a Penzoil hand pump (Wal-mart) through the hole. This allows me to measure the extra quart after I fill the transfer case up to the fill hole.
