I dropped my drive shaft while putting my lift pumps in, and noticed the fluid that came out of the drive shaft was pretty dark... it wasnt exactly brown but it was a dark gold, so immediately I started worrying about the trans. Long story short the fluid in the trans is still nice and red, smells fine, no signs of being burnt or damaged.
So why does the fluid in the transfer case area get burnt? low fluid flow, poor circulation?
