I plan to drain the fluid and install a fresh spin on. I am switching to Amsoil Torque Drive. I don't have the stones to do the Hoot method. My plan is to drain the pan and change the spin on, then add 7.5 qts of Amsoil. Then drive it around for a bit then repeat, along with a fresh spin on again. I am hoping this will get me a pretty good mix in the trans. How long should I drive it between changes? Any tips or tricks, I have never fussed with the trans before so I'm a little worried. Thanks.:)

sorry, i dunno. i changed my fluid when i pulled my tranny to build it.

i think the "hoot" method is easier and safer than you think. your clutch discs are soaked in atf when you do it. its not like then are dry and getting a massive amount of hp to them.

when i changed my clutch plates, i soaked them for 24 hrs before i installed them, which is the same as doing the hoot method imo....?

I just did my trans about a month ago. I used a method that a guy named Volvospeed has on his website....it may also be the Hoot method as well. It really does not require any "stones" to do. Takes all of 15-20 minutes, and you can get all the old fluid out. Its not near as difficult as you might think.

Stones method??

I just recently picked up 5-1 gallon jugs of transynd and am looking to switch away from atf. I didnt switch when I built it because the cooler lines were leaking so bad. Is it possible that increased line pressures fixed the leaking lines? because not a drop since the build. I want to change the fluid now and have it on hand. Any advice??? Sorry if this is a thread jack

Line pressure is static no matter what you do. By static I mean it is what it is and cannot change without modifications.

I realize that Mike. Wouldnt a pump spring shim increase line pressure? I am by far not an allison pro, I was just curious if they are the type of line connection that would be affected by pressure. I know in my line of work the Deere sprayers have a hyd line to a cooler that is a compression type quick coupler that relys on pressure to maintain seal some what like air line quick connections. Back to the changing trans fluid...... Are there any tips or tricks that could be shared on the swap of fluids? Like best way to get most out? (without removal) Thanks
