Found a lmm for sale in the range I wanted to build a service truck. Called on it and the guy says "My mechanic says it needs a computer for $2500". I know I can get an ecm for way less than that so maybe the guy meant all the computers. I ask why it needs one and he says it got wet. I ask how it got wet as high as the ecm is and then he finally says it was in the Colorado flood. He claims he cleaned the interior but when he hooked the batteries up theft lock and everything came on. So he hooked the starter to power to spin it over. Hopefully he had the water out first. I haven't seen it in person. So any ideas just how bad fixing it might be? I am thinking if water got the ecm then probably TCM and everything else is messed up.
112000 miles $7500 lmm with a flatbed is why I was interested. I want a truck to put the welder and stuff on so I don't want an expensive truck. Still kinda wish I'd kept my LLY to make the service truck. Thinking this truck may not be a good deal if it takes a lot to fix.

i think thats a little high being its got flood damage. I've got friends that have bought flood vehicles and they've had a lot of problems, these were 90's so maybe they're better now.

If you got it $3k less i would think about it, but I'm cheap. :D:roflmao:

Flooding up to the ECM? Wheres it located on an lmm? They aren't exactly down low on any other models. Id prolly pass if the quirks aren't worked out of it yet. A flooded rebuild that is verified th o be running properly & everything working as it should has value. This one, not so much.

Could be alot of headaches in the future with that truck. Sounds like their will be alot of questions unanswered from the salesman also. Risk vs. Reward.

Water is bad on all the electronics and everything else on the truck. I would pass unless it's dirt cheap.

Exactly. What you get fixed today is great but be assured in the future(mostly very near) other problems WILL pop up and they can be extremely random. Floods are a pain....

Haha maybe he's getting a lot of calls that are asking more questions than he has good answers for. Probably every electrical thing in it is messed up...
