Well id like to thank flexalite for there wonderful parts. I almost got stranded in New Jersey because there $10 fuse/breaker decieded it would completely melt down on me. I was stuck in traffic and noticed my truck started overheating. Pulled over and popped the hood and smoke was rolling. That little thing melted and the studs and wires were just hanging there. So of course i had to rig it up so i could finish my 1.5 hour ride home  is there anything else i could use?

JMO, but I dont really see the point ofputting e-fans on a dmax... IMHO the maybe 1 mpg in savings isnt worth problems like these (and not being able to tow heavy)

I have haerd of this problem with flex-a-lite's kit...I think they have an updated part??

You have the old style controller. Contact Flexalite to get the new style otherwise you will keep smokin them. My buddy went thru six of them before he got the new style and ever since he has been golden. His truck gets hot when hes pullin a heavy load tho........

Well to be honest i dont tow at all my truck doesnt even have a hitch. It has no hitch and a has a rollpan on the back. I didnt buy this to tow heavy with. I bought this to race and have fun with. The fans work great. Truck never sees over 195.

See if you can get the updated switch. iirc the old style switch has been known even to catch fire :(

Same thing happened to Casper a couple years ago.

I think they would work great for racing on the track, i get tired of my clutch fan comin on. We cant run the elec fans up here at 6000ft tho cause there is not enough air. His truck hits 300 degrees and has to pull over if hes pullin anything. We contacted Flexalite about this and they told him to put a pusher fan in front since we were at such high altitude. I want them for my truck but i dont want to have to pull over or get stranded.

whats get upgraded? the fuse/breaker that burned up on me or the actually fan controller? i will have to get ahold of flexalite. it wasnt a problem i just unhooked it up right to the alt for the ride home but i dont want it happening again. i havent pulled anything with these fans but i have had the bed loaded up. they have never missed a beat and the AC works alot better with the electric fans.

notwithstanding your opening post?

This is the most expensive way to reduce the load capacity (and hence value) of the truck.:cool2: But I guess everyone has a different take. What I see...if they die, you just have another air flow restriction, that's me.

Try locating the important stuff where there isn't so much heat. Just a thought.

Do they give you the updated part for free? How can such a big company make such a huge error? Chossing a big enough relay and other parts is really pretty simple stuff if you sit down and do the math:confused:

I know it doesnt help with d-max's but I always thought most aftermarket fans were junk and whenever I put one on a car I always used an OEM fan for a different car from the junk yard or dealer....ford tarus fans work really well on cars:rolleyes:

Couldn't be that tough.....they got it fixed now....right?

I agree but a little thing called overkill goes a long way....but big company's don't like this because it cuts into their profit. There are plenty of relays ou there that are up to the task, but they cost more. It's just a shame that things need to go soo wrong for them to step up to the plate and do it right.

taurus fans work awesome. I run one on my offroad buggy. Moves a ton of air and cost me 10 dollars, with the fancy controller.

Wouldnt move enough air for a dmax tho

i still have the factory fan in the garage. if i ever had to tow anything or a sold the truck i would put it back to stock which would probally only take about 1/2 hour to switch it all back. Its pretty simple.

my main reason for the electric fans was so i did not have to hear the clutch fan. the HP you gain if any is nice also but the stock fan sucked. it is loud during the summer and during the winter id have to drive 10 minutes before the darn thing would unlock.
