Anyone using one? What are your thoughts? Worth the money? I am looking at getting one for my pulling truck to control by starting in 3rd and going into 4th without hitting OD.

I would like to get one of Ben's setups because of the "pulling mode" but can't get ahold of him.

I have the newest fleece tap shifter in my truck and it works great! The install was easy and quick. Plug and play and clean! Takes all of about 30 min. I actually have Some here at suncoast if you decide you want to talk futher about a possible purchase!

Does it allow you to have the shifter in 3rd gear and shift up to 4th? I would like that even better because then toward the end of the track when I went back into 3rd i could easily bump into neutral. Also how do you know what gear your in? I want to start in 3rd gear pulling.

Well I have had one for a long time. The tapshifter works great but for shifting while sled pulling it lags to much it is not a good option for that. I also have the torque converter unlock switch that has never worked properly from the start. As far as tech support my calls were never returned. Like I said I love the tapshifter but for pulling def. not. the manual way to shoot forth is the only reliable way to do it or tune it in in efi live.

U need to tune it to third gear start. And as far as knowing what gear your in the gear underlines on e selector as u switch just like normal manual selection.

I have the newest version of the fleece tapshifter and it shifts every bit as quick as factory. It was simple to hook up and seems to work pretty good. I don't really mess with gears much while pulling since I'm still a stock charger workstock truck. I honestly don't use it often. On the rare occasion that I tow something, it works great. I'm getting a big single next spring and I think it will work great with the setup to simply bump down a gear if the charger needs it.

Eric, xtreme diesel has them on sale til the end of the year! I would also like to buy Ben's tap-shifter and lock-up box with gear display, but sounds like his customer service sucks! I do like that the FPE tap-shifter is a plug and play though, Ben's you have to splice and change pins.

You have to splice for the tap shifter of Ben's?

The lag between shifts is the tuning based. The TapShifter issues the command same as if you were moving your selector from 2nd to 3rd.

As far as setting them up to better control the up-shift, you need to tune the TCM so that you exceed your shift parameters quickly, that way when you give the command to up-shift, its ready to go.

The latest TapShifter was completly re-vamped and is much faster as far as communication goes, and as mentioned is 100% plug and play. It shouldnt take a novice more than an hour to install.

For you specificlly, we've not always been the best on the phones, we typically spend most days covered up with calls. Right now is our "slow time" and would be a great time to open up those lines of communication to see if we can get your AlliLocker functioning properly. If you call and don't get anyone, shoot me an e-mail [email protected].

It's not a splice, they are t-taps and pin exchanges. (take oem pins out of connectors, plug in respective controller wires w/pins instead)

To me a "T-Tap" is a splice. It has compromised the wire it is attached to and broke the protective sheathing.

It's in! Only got to play with it for the 8 mile drive home from work, but so far so good. Everything works as it should, can't wait to hook up to a heavy load, finally I can lock out OD! Install was pretty easy except for old eyes trying to put the plastic back together around the steering column. :thumb:
