Flairing 2-3 & 4-5

Back when I built the trans that's currently in my truck (25k ago), it was flawless with the 5-speed VB. Shifted great. I had to put the 6-speed VB back in a while back so I could put the reverse pipe back in the original 5-speed trans and sell it. Once I put the 6-Speed VB back in, it started getting dumb. For the most part, it still shifted good. The problems where in the 2-3 & 4-5 shifts. It was learning STUPID TAPs values (like 7psi) and would flair the shifts pretty bad. Now that I've converted my truck to the LBZ ECM & TCM, it's MUCH better all around, but the 2-3 & 4-5 still aren't great. They don't flair like they did with the 5-speed TCM, but there seems to be a little flair on occasion. The TCM's learning "normal" TAPS values.

Since the one thing in common between the 2-3 & 4-5 shifts is C3's are applying for both, I'm guessing that the C3's may have gotten burnt or glazed from the 5-speed TCM's retardedness.

Anyone have any other thoughts? If Mike as anything "New & Improved", I'll probably look to pull & refresh it in the fall.

so dave, you ran the 6sp VB with the 5sp TCM much like I did with the bogus 6sp conversion from SC ( took out the 6sp SC TCM on Mike's recommendation) correct? I had bad flares in 2-3 and sometimes 3-4 but after i took it to Tony again and drove it with the roadrunner ECM, he fixed the flared shifts. with the SC TCM however ( prior to the RR tuning changes), the only shifting problems i really noticed were unpredictable lockup and harsh lockup sometimes (within a few months and a few thousand miles the C2's or C3's - i cant remember which anymore- were fried as discovered when it limped and we sent it back to SC).
dunno if that helps or not, but maybe its a tuning issue

It might have some glazed clutches. There are no trim solenoids involved in 3rd and only B in 5th so that's not the problem.
