As some of you know I have unofficially retired my duramax to daily duties :eek:

it has been running on a very small tune and driving like grandma back and forth to work i'm pulling 22ish mpg but i still enjoy sled pulling so i through together a budget pull truck with the help of a couple friends.

strokersmoker and juddski helped me get this thing ready for its first pull this weekend so hopefully she doesn't dissapoint!!

specs are as follows;
1985 C30 dually
both fuel tanks removed and 16gallon fuel cell put in bed
stock smog 350 replaced by 402bbc with mystery cam and 454qjet
sm465 fluid replaced
dana 70 rear with a miller locker
205/60/16 front tires 285/75/16 duals in the rear (no spacers)
hitch reinforced into the frame to prevent frame flex
adjustable bump stops
brackets in bed to utilize my front weight hanging bracket off my duri

this is hopefully a recipe for a mean wheelie fun machine, i dont care if i win or lose, just want this thing to drag its bumper when pulling the sled and do halfway decent. it will be pulling against all 4wd trucks as we have no 2wd class because as always i love being different.

Sounds awesome. Good luck.

I did the same with my 05 a few years back. Couldn't afford to have my dd go down.

no dmax conversion here hahaha, it was a farmers up the street from where i live. his was unfortunatly run over by his own tractor a few years ago and a local landscaper bough the truck and never registered it. it never had a hitch on it and was only used to move 1000lbs bales of hay. aside from cab corners and inner fenders and rotten fuel tanks the truck is MINT. oh yeah and it has factory power windows!

It's way more fun to drive as it is. Lol you beat on it, hear funny noises, and just say f*** it!

kinda like that noise coming from the bearing on the input shaft of the trans hahaha, just put some heavier fluid in and call it a day :thumb:
