I have been looking for awhile and came up with nothing so I figured I would just ask. At what point do you need a fire jacket? I didn't know if they changed the rules from 11.99 to 11.5 or not.

Technically you need one when run an aftermarket turbo, or nitrous... My local tracks only enforce a fire jacket at 11.50 and quicker

Some tracks make them run them with even a stock turbo... CO was that way if I remember correctly.

It's hit or miss here in CO.... with my car, they enforce all the rules... so I wear my jacket etc. With the truck, they just make me wear a helmet (which technically is all I need to wear, stock turbo and no n20).... however, it wouldn't matter with the truck, it's an american vehicle, they don't care about enforcing the rules... friend of mine ran 10's for two years (every weekend) with no cage etc. in his Camaro. One of my batteries is held down with two rubber straps and I have a heavy barreled 308 rifle hanging from my roof in the truck, tech guy though it was cool!! try that kind of stuff in something made in Japan and it won't go over....

It's an interesting part of the specs, as they allow 0.032" aluminum OR 0.024" steel in every other section describing firewalls, but here it must be either OEM or 0.024" steel or you have a significantly higher requirement for fire suits. Because of that rule I am doing a steel firewall in my new race truck, and also steel floorpan on the driver's side of the tunnel, as it is a rule for Top Sportsman which I plan to compete in when there aren't any diesel races to attend.
