Everything started off with a bad 1056 converter that suncoast fixed under warranty which was very supprising since i had it for a while. Since the convertor was out getting fixed i decided to tear down the trans and check out my stage 4 with 80,000 + miles on it.
Inside i found :
perfect C1's
Trashed C2's
Trashed C3's
Fair C4's
And Great C5's

All the selinoids, pressure switches and front pump were not usable. The inside of the valve body was plugged with trash, the inside of the trans was gold from clutch debris.

I spent 2 weeks cleaning parts on and off i had 4 hours invested in cleaning the valve body and 3 hrs cleaning the stator. everything had to be brushed off i could not get it off with anything but elbow grease:mad:. I had to do some filing to remove burrs in planitaries and fix the clutch splines.

While all this is happening i order a Gmax kit and start the install. I learned that you need transgo instructions, ATSG manual and Suncoast instructions to do it correctly. you need the ATSG manual to try to figure out what Suncoast wants you to do and you need the transgo kit to figure out where the extra shit goes :D

i go to start the install of my new built trans again i start with cleaning all my lines and run in to my first problem the engine radiator is completly plugged and will not allow fluid to flow through it. i make some phone calls advanced has a new one i go get it and fill it with coolant the dam thing is split down the whole side.:mad: ok i call napa they also have one i go get it everything looks great in the store. i get it in the truck and the dam transmission cooler quick connects were machined the wrong size and the oring would not fit correctly inside. i took these out and ran down to a friends place and re cut the groove a few thousanths bigger. now everything fits great the truck runs and i think i will be able to sleep better tonight.

So anybody who is going through a hard time just keep cool and everything will be fine in the end. For anybody who is just starting the hotrodding world you may want to seriously consider staying stock. expensive things dont break at stock power and you wont get the go fast bug since now i cant go back to stock it would kill me:happy2::happy2:

It is so clear what power does to these trannys reading the posts of the experienced and who have realized all the money later. I guess it's time to drop that damn power level back off to extend the life of the tranny and check acct. Sorry to hear of the trouble and thanks for describing all the trashed things to check for and clean if a tranny is in rebuild stages. Takes guts to admit it was expensive mistake........

I'd personally blame the builder of your first transmission or the tuner as it should have not have let go....

What do you know about building Allison's, or tuning? How many built trannys have you had, or built? How many have you had fail, or last beyond 80,000 miles? Or are you simply saying these things based off of no "real world, first hand" experience?

What the original poster said was simply the truth. Things break when pushed hard long enough, PERIOD.

Well, I would like to know how much power is being pushed through for a built tranny to go at 80,000 miles.

I am saving now to buy a built tranny, and got my eyes on a SCIV, but if I am going to put out a little under a 500Hp tune, then will this tranny go at 80,000 miles? my current one has been running a 450 Hp tune for about 160,000 miles and so far, no problems. I would like to go a little hotter, but not much.

Any more information is always informative to those of us that want to learn.

You cant really just say X amount of horsepower will kill Y transmission. Its about how you use the truck. A truck that drags a sled or drag races frequently is going to go through transmissions and other hard parts much more frequently than a truck that does neither at any given power level. If you run your truck, it will break. I have 75k on my trans since I built it and I think it will outlast my motor as I don't race the truck anymore, so it doesnt see any abuse and is in all reality over built for what I use the truck for. Its all relative and you cant say a truck "should" last longer. Good job fixing it Jared and as always let me know if you need anything.

Unless you are sledding or racing all the time a built ally should last a while. If however, it wasn't cooling properly that would shorten the life for sure.

the first built trans went most likely because of the torque converter coming apart every 10-15,000 miles i would need to change the fluid because it would be darker than engine oil.

i drag raced and sled pulled with it but not as much as i wish i could have. it was mainly a 500 hp work truck pulling 20,000# every day.

i am not complaining one bit about how long it lasted i got my moneys worth out of it. if i have to rebuild it in another 80,000 miles i will do it with a smile on my face knowing it went to hell and back every mile.

I have had my G-Max 5 kit with another 1056 on the road now for a little less than 1000 miles and i figured i would give my input on it

i have not been able to get the trans over 150 degrees in traffic or beating the snot out of it with my home made trans cooler.

the shifts are smooth as glass and i couldn't be any happier.

Thank You Suncoast and everyone who has helped.
