Finally getting one

I've searched and searched for this truck and I've finally decided on the one.
I have a lot of things to learn about this truck so I decided to join the first forum I found.
In the next couple days, I'll be taking home my 06 2500 Duramax. Completely stock.

Is this a good truck to start with?
I mean is the 6speed any better than the 5spd? It actually took me a while to find an 06.

Great truck and i'm sure anyone on here will say the same. 6 speed is stronger to a point. There are lots of very knowledgeable people on here to help with your questions.

Thought I'd resurface. I ended up getting a 6.0 in October and it wasn't too bad. In January I found a truck I really wanted but couldn't afford at first. So end of January I finally bought and took home my first diesel vehicle. A 2008 2500 crewcab LTZ. Man I love this truck. I drive it more than any other cars I have.
Also been playing with EFILive since early Feb. I wish it had more support with idle. I get a lot of request for a lope tune.
