Is the allen head plug on the filter head a good place to moniter oil psi? Anyone know the thread size and pitch off hand?

I want to say 10mm x 1.5, but I can't guarantee that I'm right about that. I know the diameter is right, but I'm not 100% on the pitch. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer.

Oh, wait a minute. I misread that. For some reason I thought you were talking about the bleed screw on the fuel filter head. I think those big allen plugs on the oil cooler assembly are actually some sort of oddball pipe thread (not standard NPT), but I used a 1/2" NPT adapter to install my oil temp sending unit. It hasn't leaked a drop in 15k miles.

So it will give an accurate reading on the oil psi in that spot?
Depending on which one you put it in. The one higher up toward the side is pre-cooler/filter and would read a little higher than what the bearings are seeing. The one down low (just above the front axle u-joint) is post-cooler/filter. It would be more accurate, but if you tap into one of the bolts in the side of the block (where aftermarket turbos usually tap for oil), that would probably give you the best reading since it is right in the oil galley that feeds the main bearings. I believe it is a 14mm x 1.5 pitch.

ok good to know. Reason I was asking is because I'm having a hard time finding a 14 x 1.5 fitting to install in the regular oil pressure ports. I pulled this pug and it looked like it was a standard thread. I just did not have any tools to measure it at the shop and I couldn't drive it with the plug removed so I was hoping somebody on here knew what size they were. Have you ever monitered the oil psi at that port to see if it is similiar to the other ports on the motor?
