LB7: Filter head assembly leaking after lift pump install?

I recently had a shop install a lift pump (Airdog II 165) and after the install, they said they could not get the filter head to stop leaking and bypassed it instead.

It seems like the general consensus on the forums is "LB7s need all the filtration they can get" and the factory filter should be retained in addition to the filtration from the Airdog.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is it recommended to figure out a way to get the leak fixed and run it through the factory filter setup again?

Thanks.

You will hear both sides on this issue. Many have deleted it with no issues. Many of us have kept it with no issues. IMO as long as you are using low micron filters and changing them every other oil change you should be fine without it. The nice thing with keeping it the use of the hand primer and bleeder should you accidentally run it out of fuel.

Your fuel filter head may need to be rebuilt. Easy job, here is the link...

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have noticed there are people who say both to keep the factory filter and others that say it's fine to delete.

Since the rebuild kit is relatively inexpensive and I don't have a need to get rid of it, I'll try the rebuild kit and see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks!

Mine leaked after I installed my lift pump. Leaked around where the metal lines were pressed into the housing. Crazy to think how many stock trucks out there are sucking air into the fuel on a daily basis.

Would a rebuild kit have included the necessary o-rings to stop your leak? What did you end up doing?

TX of course
No it wouldn't. Normally they leak from the fuel heater or priming pump.

mine leaked after installing an airdog also. the rebuild kit did not fix the leak. It was more of a very slow seep but I believe there was a hairline crack somewhere. I have it bypassed but you could probably keep an eye out for a filter housing in the garage sale.
