I'm pretty sure my amp took a dump as the second I put the fuse it its full blast static. What are my options? Will an aftermarket radio rectify it or do I need to find an amp?

You can put in an aftermarket head unit and just remove the factory amp. You can also try and find a used one from a junk yard, or eBay, or whatever. You can also put in the factory low-end head unit that drives the speakers directly, and remove the amp.

Though really, if you are tearing into the wiring, might as well go with a good aftermarket unit, IMO. The only reason I still have a GM headunit is because it interfaces with my stock rear seat DVD and stock rear seat audio.

Do I have to bypass anything or just remove the old amp and install the new head unit?
When you remove the factory amp, pull the pins out that go to the speakers, and wire that up to the speaker outputs from the new head unit.

Or you could run new wires to the speakers, but that is unnecessary, IMO.
