Ok, I've go my trans, TC & driveshafts all back in the truck. Only things left are to bolt the TC to the flexplate, put the starter back on, fill the trans and start it. Problem is I have an extra nut, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out where the crap it goes. It's exactly the same as the six that hold the Transfer case to the extension housing and the one that holds the shift lever on the rod. I can't find a stud for it ANYWHERE (It's too big for the studs that bolt the trans to the engine). Anyone have any clue where it might go?

Tranny mount?

Nope, they're happily in place and torqued, plus they have washers attached.

I spoke with Big Dipper, and it seems likely that either Eric dropped one while bolting the TC in and it got stuck somewhere that he couldn't see/find it, and grabbed another, or it's one that was floating around my garage from something else. The only places either of us can think of that take 15mm nuts are the Transfer case to transmission studs (and I've checked, rechecked and rechecked again and there are six in place) and the detent lever.

I always have extra parts when I get done a job. There is always something that dodn't need to be there in the first place.

No, I thought of that last night, bit alas, that nut is still there; I DID take it off when I was taking things apart, but I put it back when I found it wasn't going to help me. I have a feeling that my above explanation is the right one, and Mike saying that there isn't anywhere else that takes a 15mm nut re-enforces that explanation.

ok, sorry, but to sum up...
you've got an extra nut, don't know where to put it, too big for the stud, same as the one on the rod.

hahahahahahahahahahah

I remember a double nut as well. It was stud, nut, bracket, nut on the DS of the trans if I remember correctly. But Mike does a hell of alot more of these things then I ever have/will do...
