Pulled the trans out of my buddy's truck got the bellhousing down just as Mike said and I have to say it went smooth with two jacks and a couple four by fours. I feel like it's gonna be a PITA to get it back in the truck though lol. Just wondering is their anything important We must do from this point forward or should do while it's out? http://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=45564&stc=1&d=1491775465

No you didn't. The bell housing must be pointed down before the extension housing is removed, or even loosened.

You need to disassemble the entire rear section of the transmission and reassemble everything correctly now.

Or better yet take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

Damn, man. The guys all told you NOT to touch the ext housing while the trans is horizontal, and you still did it. W..T..F?

I'd just invest in a transmission jack. Bought mine from harbor freight and it works great.

I started mine up with a pair of cargo straps on each end going between the torsion bars. Then I put down a sheet of plywood and got my transmission jack under it. Also an old piece of carpet makes it a lot easier sliding.

As far as what you should do, I'd get real familiar with a ATSG manual, even if your going with a Suncoast kit, before you do anything and keep the beer saved for afterwards. Take a billion pictures then you can reference back to the way it came apart because the human mind is known to make shit up and then you end up with torrington bearing backwards or something.

Personally, I ended up doing each step about three times since it was my first Allison to learn and comprehend each part. I don't know how many trans you've been in but it's not just taking it apart and putting pieces back. If parts aren't together correctly you'll make a costly mistake. Not trying to discourage you, just know what you're getting into.
