Besides tuning what causes excessive injector noise in a Lly. Mothers truck runs great not a bit of smoke. I have not had time to check rates but man it's got a lot of rattle it seems like. .?

I'm pretty sure it's not the tuning. But your saying leave the pilot injection stock? Changing it causes lots of rattle?
past issues with water in fuel can do it, I took a large amount of water in my tank (8+ gallons)this summer and rebuilt 6 injectors and replaced 2 all balance rates are well with in spec now, but have a definite pronounced injector rattle been chasing it down slowly, also no excessive smoke, but I know its there. The damage that water can cause inside an injector is amazing
Try a addative. Two stroke oil or power service. Lots say it quiets injectors plus it can't hurt and it's cheap
Yeah I already tried two stroke oil as it worked for me in the past. But no success this time.
altering the pilot injection or the main injection can throw the timing relationship between the two off. pilot injection is only used in the lower injection quantities tables IIRC.
