I thought it would be nice for some people to share some expert opinions on engine related problems. More and more of us "new" to the diesel scene, such as myself, are hitting some pretty high power levels. I am currently installing head studs and making way for twin turbos. While I have only been in the diesel area for 3 years. I have ALOT more to learn and I feel there are quite a few people in my position. I am fairly mechanically inclined and can fix most anythign (if I know what the problem is). But often I dont know what is wrong, or how wrong it is, or if i should be catching some problems before they make more. Here are a few questions I have for the non-visible parts of the engine. Can any of this be seen with EFI-live or how can it be detected before its too late.
INJECTORS: How do I know they are all working correctly. Make sure they fire when they should, and flow like they should.
PISTONS: How do I know if it is cracked, melted, ect.
RODS: how do you know if it is bent or to what extent it is bent.
CP3: How do we know it is flowing cerrectly.
TURBO: how de we know the bearings, wheel, ect is in good shape.
Let me know if there are any tell tale signs to be noticed or how to check for this with efi-live or an other special tests. Thanks in advance.
