Ok I guess I finally stopped being reasonable and started buying parts for a build today. The setup I am planning on doing is:

Carillos
Mahle race cast
Clevite h series
Arp main & head studs
Bd flexplate
Keyed crank/cam
I would eventually like to run twin stock lbz pumps
60-100 overs????
S366 single (for now)
What injector size and compression ratio should I choose?
My overall goal would to make somewhere in the 800hp range but I would probably only have it turned up that much for track days.
I would like to leave myself the option of twining an s4x? To make my desired power but I will be running the s366 alone for now. The truck is street driven often.

sounds like a solid plan.. since your going with mahle race cast why not use fingers pistons? and you could always twin your 66 with a s480

I will probably try fingers piston design on the Mahle race cast but I need to figure out what compression ratio to use. Also do the Mahle pistons come with a thermal coating that will be lost with the cutting of the oval bowl?

I have 60 overs and if you're going to dd your truck I would suggest Exergy 60 overs. If it's going to be mainly used for racing go with 100's. Don't forget LB7 have the largest injectors stock. I know Mark had said that the Fingers pistons run great at lower CR's. I would talk to Mark and I'm sure he could put you on the right path.

Why didn't you get the rest of the crank keyed? Mine is keyed on both gears and balancer. Is it not necessary?

i didnt know any better at the time it was done and this is the first performance duramax engine that my machinist has done. I have debated pulling it back out and having him do it....

Love me some build porn! Keep it coming. This build is so similar to mine. You def got sweet pistons and I had just have mine delipped.

Thanks, i had to go .20 over so i had to get different pistons anyway and it is going to be driven often so i wanted to stay away from forged.

Do you plan to run your s366 around the 800 mark with twin pumps? Just looking for insight on this , as its pretty similar to my setup.

My mechanist did the same. I just got him to put another dowel pin in it.
