Some of you probably know I just got my truck back together with studs and grade c gaskets. An s475 tct single and a new clutch. After 500 miles or so it seems it has maybe dropped a valve, I haven't pulled the head off yet. Debris trashed my turbine wheel also. I found another engine for 2500 this thing still has the air box and ic pipes hanging off of it, it is totally complete. If i bought this and parted out the stuff I don't need how much do you guys think I could make back off of this thing?

Are you going to keep your engine and take what you need and part out the other one? Or swap what you can from yours to it?

After all that work you did?Man I am sorry to hear that!Hope its not that bad when you tear it down.

Me either but if it is bad I'd like to have this backup engine. And if I don't need it or I do I just want to make sure I can get my money back out of it.

Gonna pull mine I figure starting with the new engine might be better. But I'd really have to just pull my head off. This other engine is supposed to run and have 200,000 so I'd go through it. But I'd almost rather save the money on that engine and just build mine

If you can live with the truck down I would just rebuild what you have. Less work and probably about the same money

Thinking I'm gonna buy this engine and do some hybriding with my performance parts. And drop it in my truck, then I can slowly build a good not rushed engine and not skimp based on budget or time. Plus I'd rather pay it off then build the engine. That's the plan so far

Just build a mild short block from the one for 2 grand, and have your ready for a ripshaft. I let my old one go and was pissed at myself after the fact, even all my spare parts, wanting to soup up the LMM since my ridiculous insurance is too high for two duramaxes but I'm starting from scratch again and nothing left over o work on without down time

I'm only gonna part out the stock stuff. Still will be 600 650 hp. I just don't know if I can afford to pay it off and build a short block. I can pay it off and have a drivable truck again and save some money without a truck payment, to build it. If my blocks good in the current engine I can start a build on that and swap it in.

Plus I have a trashed injector I'm sure of that. And the 75 tct needs a rebuild and a 87 turbine wheel so not building it will leave me wiggle room in the budget to square away some other things. Where would u sink the 2k? Rods? What about pistons? Machine work pinning the crank and cam and all that I just don't think I'll be able to swing it all

Was on Wagler Comp looking around earlier, and was wondering about their Aluminum rod set at 1750. Rods are going to be where the money is spent. Cut and coated LB7 pistons would be a piston within budget that would be sufficient. Check with Henry from Creatures Of The Night on what he can do on a kit for you.

I text Henry he's pricing my turbo rebuild and my engine kit he said 4600 is with carillos and race cast pistons from mahle and 4250 is with Bc rods in the same kit. I was gonna step up the pistons if it gets rods I'd have a goal of 800 hp. I just read brian truck has delipped lb7 pistons but I might not be so lucky, so I was gonna go fingers or mahle. Like I said though I just really don't see being able to afford that with paying it off and the turbo rebuild and fixing the injector and all the little stuff that goes along with building an engine the right way. So I'd rather slap this other engine in with valve springs and studs the sportsman and the 75 after the rebuild and getting the injectors checked and the one fixed. Then build the engine I pull out that's messed up and slowly build that and swap em out later

If you decide to fix your engine with stock parts, I have an extra set of LBZ/LMM Rods and LB7 pistons i can delip. I don't have any real need for them. Just trying to give a buget option.

I appreciate it, basically gonna buy this engine and have what I had but with a few extras like valve springs and a bigger turbine wheel, try to take it easy on it til I can fully build another. Hopefully the core that's in the truck is good enough to rebuild. I'm kind of excited to see what the clutch looks like and see if I can figure out what my squelching noise was. But regardless this engine is a good deal so I'm gonna pick it up. It will be nice not to have the 01 belt routing with a bouncey tensioner, as the engine I'm buying is an early 04
