I think I am going to buy a 44' "Eliminator" Race Trailer. It is 81" between the fender's inside. 96" inside overall (plenty room there). Anyone know how wide the track is on the 2500? I guess you could get some rims with the right backspacing to make it real narrow, I know it will work, just don't know what I may need. I am all, but sold in the trailer either way.

Dang, your going professional Wayne. I would think you could always put the stock wheels on to transport, kind of a pita though. Mike Hartman from VA hauls his GMC in an enclosed trailer, iirc he keeps the wide wheels on to transport, but it looked like a tight fit.

On a side note are you planning to pull up here again next year?

81" will be a little tight. Mine is 82" and I have to install stock size tires or it won't fit. I mounted a winch in the front of mine to get it in and out of the trailer easier. Sounds like your going to have a nice setup for sure. Enjoy you will be happy with a enclosed trailer. Jeff

Mike Hartman must have been the guy I saw in NJ. He has a red truck, real nice paint job, etc. I was planning on having to change wheels to be able to fit between the wheel wells. of the trailer.

Yes, I will be pulling again around PA. Not as much, but still around.

Thanks. I figure at the very least I may have to get some "rice" tires for the front. Good idea on the winch, that would make it easier. How tall is your inside height of the trailer, and any lift on the truck?

That sounds like Hartman.

A friend of mine witha tilt bed open trailer put "guide" plates on the front edge of the fenders so they would guide the tires between the fenders as he drove on the trailer. Worked really well. IIRC the width between the fenders was 81" or 82". That was with 8" wide wheels with 4.25" of backspace and 33x12.50 tires.

I'd love to get an enclosed trailer as well but there don't seem to be many used ones around and new ones are too expensive. :( I only a 30'+/- though. 44' is loooooong.

My enclosed is 7'6 inside height and 81.5 well to well.

My Escalade fits in fine. You may have to fold the mirrors in to pass the door cables. You will have to exit through the window unless you have a side door installed. The winch works, but you still have to guide it as its a snug fit.

PS - Most "race" trailers won't support the weight of a diesel pickup. Do your homework. I had ours custom made by TrailerProPop, with extra bracing in the floor and door (ramp).

I line mine up turn the key off so it won't turn and winch it in. Seems to work fine. Mine is 6" extra tall. I believe it is 7' no lift on mine but room to spare. Like Pat said make sure it has heavy axles and is made for the weight. Jeff

The only thing I wish I could get is a door so that I could open the truck door to get out, and make it easy. The trailer is a deal, IMO, and I don't want to pass it up. It has extra bracing, I agree that most trailers are not made for the weight of a diesel in one spot. If everything works out, I will go to IN. to pick it up end of the week.

If it is still at the factory i'm sure they can still add a door for just a little bit of money. I does sound like a nice trailer. Im sure you will like it when you get it. Jeff

I talked to the guy that owns the dealer today. He offered some thoughts, about my concerns.

1 - the trailer has triple 6K axles, empty right now the trailer weighs in just under 9K
2 - he said the trailer bracing itself is good for the weight of a diesel, he claimed before knowing what exactly I was doing that he sells alot to tractor pullers.
3 - his concern was the ramp, even though both axles would not be on it at the same time he thought bracing or blocking would be a smart move. They can brace the ramp, but I thought, and he agreed that I could do it alot cheaper, and better. I guess you just need to take the tread plate and wood off the inside of the door.

7200 lb. axles are $1900 more.

Went and picked up the trailer, got back to PA. safe and sound. I love it! We have not put the truck in yet, but we are going to this weekend, and fab up some d-ring plates to tie it down with.

Cool Trailer

I almost bought the same trailer but with a bath room in it. I just didn't have the cabbage to swing it. I'm glad you got it. You should be more than happy with it. I bet that came from a father and son team who sells them to help with there racing. Jeff
