Well here in the county I live in I have to do emissions testing every 2 years. Ran the truck today as it sits with straight exhaust, EGR blocker & Korys built trans tuning set on level 1. Failed the opacity snap test. Not a big surprise.

I get a free retest & have a few questions before I test again. I'll be reinstalling my cat. They didn't look under the hood at all. Should I load up my stock trans tuning as well? Do you think having the cat in place will make the difference?

Thks,
Luke

You failed an opacity test on a level 1? How big is youre level 1 tune? Back when we had to do opacity tests here in salt lake, I saw trucks billow smoke and still pass. My old cummins included.

Level 1 is suppose to be stock & it feels that way. The test results were 99.9% with a limit of 40. Starting to wonder if their tester was effed up.

Gives out a little puff of black but nothing extreme. As far as I know everything is stock except for the tune

Sounds like the tester wasn't correct. 100% opacity is a LOT and usually indicates the sensor eye's aren't aligned. Is it just an idle snap test? Or is it a lugdown?

I'll throw my cat back on & try another testing place in town. I've passed it before I had EFI & with the cat in place

Thks for the replies
