Emergency P0088

Friends truck is on the side of the road (not mine) with P0088, rail pressure too high. When started the truck idles all over the place, starts reving and such. Desired fuel rail pressure bounces from 5k-18k and everywhere in between. Sounds electrical right? What would cause DFRP to bounce like that with what was just a normal running truck minutes before this happened?

looking for input to help him get his truck home,
thanks,
Caden

Solved: Ended up unplugging a ppe fuel rail pressure gauge that spliced into the factory sensor to read FRP and it was somehow messing with the circuit. Water leaked through his windshield into his gauges which could have shorted something and caused it to back feed into the sensor.

going to take a look at it tomorrow and require the gauges

glad to see you got it figured out. I was going to say that I think a bad frp sensor or wiring to it will cause it to max out rail pressure.
