Electric motors make full torque all the way through their operating range. And they make a lot of torque. I think they probably suffer on the big end though

This is pretty big at PIR in Portland, they were at the same event as the NHRDA's ISSPRO NW Nationals two years ago. Wasn't a good mix to say the least.:D Some very interesting descussions on going green and they distain for diesels and any smoke. Didn't have much to say when asked where they got the power to charge their batteries or what the batteries were made of and their effect on the enviroment when trying to dispose of them. Suckers are quick out of the hole. Neck brace needed for sure.:thumb:

I was reading up on the Fiero, which runs high 9's (no NHRA >9 sec equipment though), and he seems to think it has 1000HP? RIIIIGGGHHHTTTT. It uses 2 electric motors inline to drive a Lincoln Mark IV IRS axle. It has Lithium batteries, which are falling in price rapidly.

Now what does this have to do with diesels?

If you can get a lightweight 100HP electric system, you can run your supercharging off electric and keep EGT's down and run headers. You'd take two turbochargers (staged twins) and modify them to accept the electric motor, then get a battery pack and controller. You'd only need 2 speeds, 5 psi, and max boost, so no fancy controller would be necessary.

I own one. Not a neck snapper, but darn good acceleration. Sport mode is very nice. The program cuts back on the power around 40 MPH for some reason, but top speed is 110 MPH or so.

I'm happy with it as is, but can't help scheming on some "upgrades". Battery amperages in and out are tightly regulated and the electric motor is not running at 100% because of potential heat build up. They have gone out of their way to make sure all the components will make and exceed the 100,000 mile mark. New market will be products to hop up your electric motors torque and power.

And for what it's worth, the electric comes from a nuke plant and the batteries are 100% recyclable. LOL

I'm not a "Green" per se, but I do think this car is in the right direction looking forward.

They sre soo quiet! I had to watch a couple times just to catch the launch
They dont stage, spool or groan when the tree lights up. You can hear the drivetrain winding out as they go down the track cuz of no engine noise, kinda cool
DIESEL, is still far superior as an energy source
and given, the car itself is "cleaner and quieter" to drive, but making, charging and disposing of of electric vehicles is far more wastful, than current petroleum powered vehicles manufacturing process.
There was an independant test study done in Dubai, united saudi arab emerates. They had collected data on the prius. The data they collected proved that the generator motor or some part of the power train, actually produced a harmful field of radioactive isotopes!
Under load, or at a give load it is actually dangerous! There was even a video of a helo that was following traffic, there was a prius in front, a hundred yards back or so was the rest of rush hour.
Toyota does not want the public to know this, the last time i looked for this study.... it had been completly wiped from the internet? Form your own conclusuion.

I looked into a few electric/hybrids before we bought our 2011 golf tdi(which can get 48 mpg when i really try)
Think about this
you are sitting above and in line with the batteries, generator and inverters and high voltage wiring
Now think of RAF associated with high voltage power lines
Society used to believe that it was safe to live under them, by them
lead paint and asbestos used to be considered ok too
Form your own conclusion

On another note, (weird coincidence?)
The second i made that last post, i got kicked offline
Hmmm
