EGT Probe Blow Out

Have my passenger side stock manifold tapped for an EGT probe. Driving home last night hit a bump and heard an unusual sound, looked at the gauges and saw EGT temps way down. Figured I cracked the manifold, got home and looked and appeared as if the probe just blew out? Looks like there could possibly be a couple hairline cracks. I'm going to try and get the probe back in there, but if not I work with a couple of welders and would just have them put a plate over the hole until I upgrade to some billet ones. If I have to have it welded, I should just disconnect the batteries to protect all electronics? MIG or TIG? Just grounded to the frame? What's through manifold made of and what should I use to put over the hole?

Cast iron is hard to weld without cracking it. It can be done but they would have to know what they're doing. Try using a plug or putting the probe back in to see what happens.
