I took my my truck into the dealer because my hour meter reset and I wanted them to set the hours correctly again. 2007 Classic LBZ. When I picked it up, the invoice had the following:

"Do EGR reprogram and clean EGR Valve as per TSB"

This is something they opted to do without bothering to ask if I wanted it done. I'm pretty certain they didn't actually pull the EGR valve as the dust on the intake, grid heater, and other parts appears untouched.

Anyone know which TSB this refers to?

Is the EGR reprogram actually an ECM update, or a seperate stand alone module?

What do they clean when they do clean the EGR valve. I'm thinking I'll take a look this weekend.

the only way GM can reset the hour meter is when the cluster is replaced. it can only be done once when it is first programmed and then it locks mile and hour programming to prevent tampering with the odometer.

That might explain things... My dealer told me they could set the hours correctly, but when I got the truck back it went from 7.9 hours to 0.5. The only solution they offered is that they performed a gauge sweep and my cluster is defective. Seems strange since everything works fine.

Btw to answer your other question, the TSB involves reprogramming the ECM and then using the Tech II to cycle the EGR a hundred or so times to 'possibly' clean the valve.
