now i know why i shouldn't trust autozone employees. :mad:

friggin dickhead who tested the betteries in the truck never disconnected them. alternator was also tested with batteries still connected. shouldn't have left him alone with it in the first place.....

i went back to lookin today and now one battery has acid comin out the top. pulled both batteries, both have swelled the cases (recent, becasue they weren't this way 2 days ago), one is leakin and is so hot, i couldn't pull it out the truck and carry it 20 ft without gloves. had the non-leaking battery tested, it's bad and i'm pretty sure i'm safe in assumin the leakin one is no good too.

ac delco oe batteries, 18 mos old and both are shot. WTF?!?! is it possible for one battery to go bad and take the other with it, or is it just having one battery runnin plugs, starter, etc on this truck what killed it??

warranty at the dealer is like having teeth pulled.....

you have the receipt for the 2 batteries? Should be good to go if so. Our dealer is quick about htose....

found receipt. i purchased it at a battery dealer in san diego though, not a chevy dealer. is that a problem??

any idea why both would fail??

probably gonna ahve to go to the place you bought it from, unfortunatly.

1 could have been bad for a while and the other was relied on all the time. Possibly overworked....

I have seen 2 bad at once.... i have also seen 1 bad at a time.

If you replace 1 chances are the second will go bad in a week or two... just the way it hapens.

DAMN!! i'm now in vegas, be kinda pointless to make a 8 hour drive to warranty a couple batteries.

guess i'll call delco in the morning, see what they can do.

called chevy dealer here this morning, they said nope after i explained it to them. has to be purchased through a gm dealer for them to honor it. told me my best bet was to call ac delco direct. so i did and explained the problem. spoke to two people, both fed me the same line about overcharging or heat killing the batteries. basically told me that it was my problem, not theirs, and that the only reason for the batteries to swell the cases, evap fluid, and get super hot is A) overcharging or B) heat and thaqt neither is honored or even pro rated through their warranty program. :confused::(

i know it aint overcharging.... metered the alt last night (thx mike, harbor freight does carry meters - $17.99) ....13.8 volts. correct last time i checked.

that leaves heat. it was up to 122* end of august last year. about 110 or so right now. appearantly ac delco doesnt make a heavy duty enough battery to last more than 18 mos in this temp. :mad:

so, two new batteries later (not ac delco, fk that) truck starts without a problem. now throwin 0404 and 0405 egr codes though. 3 times last night.

picked up a bottle of stanadyne today, 6.5 rattle quieted down a little bit now. still sound like regulator??

i gotta resurrect this thread as I am having all of these isues on both lb7's. the 01 i just got has blue smoke at idle, not tons, but enough to notice it drifting by when stopped, I am almost positive it is injector(s). it also has a ticking/knocking while driving gets louder during higher rpms but goes away or not noticeable during WOT.
Then, the 04 originally cali emissions, has had electrical issues for a few months now. it was smoking heavy blue smoke at start-up when really cold and ticking really loudly until warm. it also went through 2 sets of optimas and now on third set and new alternator in last 3 months. now i have noticed a buzzing sound when the key gets turned off possibly coming from alternator. doesn't sound like it's coming from glow plug controller, definately louder in front of engine right near alternator. it takes a few wiggles or cycles of the key to try to get the buzzing to not happen, so what in that area is powered by KEY-ON?

Change your fuel filter and throw injectors in the '01. Trade the '04 in on a CTS-V.:D

A CTS-V!!! I wish, but this is faster once the extra 800lbs comes off :eek:.

i have to go plead with my dealer to replace the replaced injectors:baby:

or i will so something retarded and swap to a lly top-end:D

on edit: anyone have any extra lly rails, injectors, lines, FICM to sell, i have a source for some cheap heads?
