EGR codes with bad glow plug module

Got the dreaded Glow plug control module controller code (forgot the number).

When the glow plug codes appeared, I noticed that I started getting EGR open performance and EGR closed performance codes. The 2 I remember are P0404 and P1404. Started thinking that either the finger stick or the EGR was going out. I ordered and replaced the Glow plug controller. Now the EGR codes are gone. Have not had time to drive the truck far. What are the chances that the glow plug controller was causing the EGR codes??

Any news on this? My truck is getting harder to start and I'm all of a sudden getting p1404 and p0404 at almost every start up. Will these codes send my truck into any kind of limp mode, or is this a black electrical tape fix?

Egr codes are back, but starting is not an issue and never was. Only went a couple of weeks with the glow plug codes.

Do not know about sending it into limp. I have a finger stick on mine, but I am starting to think that it is more likely a bad egr valve. I read up on the kennedy site, and it states that a working egr is required for the finger stick. I think that the egr position sensor is on the fritz or dead.

Hopefully that's not it. I have a KD finger stick and a Predator programmer. I modded my EGR motor because I'm running an EGR delete I made. I'm wishing more and more I had the money for EFI live or someone to tune the truck for me.

Check out John's write up on the finger stick. He talks about having a good egr for it to work properly. Also double check the connections as they are critical to the finger stick working. I plan on calling John when I get back from South America to get a method for testing the Finger Stick while installed in the truck that is after I check my connections. Hopefully I can find the problem without throwing parts at it. That will just get expensive. Finger stick $50 egr $152 from GMpartsdirect.com plus shipping.

I'm hoping it's just the finger stick. Like you said that's pretty cheap to replace as opposed to an EGR motor.
