Hello all...

I've a question that might make a few of you fall out of your chair laughing.... but it's one i need to try and understand the answer to if all possible.

I've really been getting into the EFI live tuning / logging lately... though for the past 2 years i've had a great helper (the Neens) - i've not understood much of what i was putting into my truck and i felt like i was always bugging him.. So... i started logging, changing stuff to see what would happen and loading it back into the truck and logging some more... just to make sense of things.

But, i'm kind of at a crossroads.... particularly on the Main injection Pulse table versus the Throttle Base injection table.... and here's where my confusion comes into play...

In reading some of the discussions here (Build boost, etc.) - i've gotten lost as to which table is the 'commanded' and which table is the 'limiting' table - since in my lame brain, thats how all this tuning works.... one table says "this is what we want" and another says "given x and y, this is how much you can have"...

So... in looking at B0720 across the x axis, i understand those #s (and even how to convert them to PSI now! yay for me!) i also understand how/where the y axis mm3 / stroke comes from... (a whole soup of tables that command and limit)... regardless - i need to understand what exactly does the mm3 / stroke mean? Is that the TRUE quantity of fuel we want delivered during the stroke? And if so - does B0720 LIMIT how much time we have to shoot that quantity into the cylinder?

this relationship has me boggled. I'm sure it's simple to alot of you, but until i understand what exactly mm3 / st is in relation to injector open time... i'm going to feel REALLY dumb.

For example, at 160 mPa and 100 mm3, if i have a value of say 3000... does that mean i get 3000 microseconds to dleiver the full 100mm3? what if i cut it down to 2000 microsends? Does it simply deliver as much fuel as it can of the 100mm3 in that 2000 microseconds?

ANY help or explanations appreciated. Sorry for the dumb questions... i know i know... i should be banned from here for life...

the way i understood it is once you touch the main pulse table just disregard the mm3 as a quantity and use it only as a table referance. but yes you are thinking correct theory. if you were using the stock tune you would need at wot xxxxus to achieve 100mm3 at the actual fuel pressure.

First off this is NOT a dumb question!;)
its good to see you are asking questions and trying to figure it out

basically your throttle base table is the reference mm3 used for the pulse width tables

3000ms is how long you are telling the injector to stay open for,In order to get the fuel we need for racing it has to stay open longer than GM asked for

sorry but i just dont have the time to go into more details, but keep asking away
