Nope.

An iPad isn't a computer. It can only run apps specifically designed for iPads.

You can use a "netbook" though. I bought one for $200 and use it with EFILive.

To clarify:

EFILive is a Windows-Only program. It can be run on an Apple computer IF you are running Windows (bootcamp, etc) on the Apple. An iPad isn't a full computer and can't run Windows/bootcamp, nor most Apple computer programs either.

I wonder about some of the other tablets though...i cant speak for them as i have an ipad. But it would be a cool platform to work with i think, less bulk.

less bulk...than one of the small netbooks??? I know it sounds like it would be all gee-whiz and cool and stuff, but Just think about it for a second from a real-world perspective, before you wish for it/get frustrated that it doesnt exist (an efilive "app"). Just the fact that tablets dont have a mouse/keyboard alone would make it annoying as hell/impossible to use EFILive. Think about all of the keyboard/mouse functions that you use with EFILive. Its not solitaire or tic-tac-toe. Its just too complicated a program to really be useful with touchscreen alone, especially considering how small all the cells are etc...

I can pretty much guarantee that, if by some miracle, EFILive did come out with some Ipad "app", you guys would use it for about 5 minutes, say "F this" and go buy a netbook...or something with an actual keyboard/mouse.

Would be cool for data logging and flashing though. I don't do much tuning in my truck.

I beg to differ somewhat on this ben. While i agree that the tuning aspect would be nothing all that great as the keyboard interface kinda sucks on tablets, think about the dashboard display, logging, and things of that nature. I can tell you that a touchscreen beats the holly shit out of using a mouse, and even moreso a touchpad mouse interface....maybe one of those HP notebooks with the touchscreen...do they make one netbook sized?

I just found an iPad running a VM with redhat as the secondary os. I didn't even know that you could do that on an I pad. I've only seen VM's running on PC's. I figured with redhat, you can run just. About anything. Windows included. This is the origination of my question. Do you know if linux will run efi live? If so... I could be in business. If not, I'm sure windows could be supplemented instead of the redhat.

So even if an iPad running redhat doesnt/can't run efi live... The hp tablets CAN be run with a keyboard and a mouse as well. Wonder if that will be viable. I'm just curious because I was offered a smoking deal on an iPad today. I refuse to buy pc's bc I have an anger problem. I snapped my last one in half :(

What stopped me from running EFILive under Linux was the USB device driver for the EFILive box. I can get EFILive to run under WINE, but not talk to the device.

In any case, Windows isn't going to work on an iPad without huge amounts of custom device drivers written for every hardware aspect.

While OSX (FreeBSD) is a kind of related to Linux, Windows isn't.

Wow, I acutally agree with Wade on something.:spit:

I think it would be cool to have my iPad in my truck for logging and/or simple flashing. Other than that, I would definitely use my laptop.

EFI Live is currently the only time I fire up my home laptop anymore.

VirtualBox running windows on Linux works fine with EFILive.
