I'm going to dyno my truck for the first time next weekend. Is there anything I need to know? I've heard so many things to do and not to do. Anything I can do with EFI Live to help me out?

Well, don't hit the brakes on the dyno...:D Dyno in 4th and use EFI to lock it in 4th.

How do you do this on a 6 speed? I am also trying to make a dyno day in a week or so to see if I can put this tranny over the edge!!

I've never fiddled with the bidi controls or anything like that so I'm not sure how to do this.

I know I can keep it from upshifting with the the manual shift but I want to keep it from downshifting when I go for it. I only get one shot at this so I want to make it a good one.:(

I like 5th because it loads the engine more allowing it to build more boost, and it is the gear used for the longest amount of time on a 1/4 mile drag strip (shift to 5th is typically at or near the 1/8 mile mark).

Dale, the best way to dyno and hold the gear you want is to make a dyno TCM tune by modifying the shift points by lowering the downshift speed at WOT and partial throttle, raise upshift speed/RPM at WOT and partial throttle, and lower partial and WOT converter lock and unlock speeds. Put it in manual mode and shift it up one gear at a time watching the tach to make sure it shifts (don't let the converter lock fool you into thinking you shifted into the selected gear). When it gets to the gear you want to dyno in, put the shifter in "D" (the TCM changes don't work in M). I think I have a dyno TCM tune I can email you if you want to see what I did.

Sounds good Josh thanks.

I will run in 4th as with my tune, it runs up to 100mph in 4th gear due to the 35" mud tires!! Plus I'm pretty sure the trans won't hold 5th!!:D

Even if you connect to the TCM you can't lock it into gear?

I recall buggering up my bro's LBZ while he was driving it once by doing something on the computer...

What about on the LLY's? I don't think I've ever connected to the TCM.

I roll into it kind of quickly.

What about using the DVT on the Scan Tool? That should work right?
I've never been able to get the DVT to work on a 6 speed. It has limped the transmission every time I've tried it.
