Just tell the tuner you want a stock trans tune.....roughly 60-80 hp (every one seems different) over stock is as far as you can go with the trans......but I'm warning you now, the excess power is very addicting

ive been running the 85 superchips tune for as long as ive had my truck. id say thats about as much horse power you should be adding without doing aleast a trans go or some type of upgrade to your tranny. mine hasnt slip yet... but ive never dropped the tranny to see if the clutches were still good. they could have hot spots all over them, but it still holds with that power so...

You can run about 90 hp without limping the tranny. You could run most any tune for a while as long as you do not run it into the 4-5 shift. That is when it will limp and start the tranny train wreck.

We have alot of guys with a +100hp tune (~350 rwhp on the dyno) and stock trans. None of them have limped yet. When guys ask for more I warn that the trans won't like it and the best advice is to lock out OD before you get in it on the highway, then unlock it once you are full throttle. If you are in the sweet spot of 5th on the highway where you are just fast enough it doesn't want to downshift when you roll into it that's when it is easiest to slip and limp it.

I think the bigger question is whether the trans has ever been limped before. Some hold better than others. If it has been limped in the past, 80-90 will limp it again. I would be in the 60-75 range to be safe. A lot depends on driving style as well.

With efilive you can kind of detorque and defuel under 2800rpms. It kind of worked for me untill I decided to try a WOT 4-5shift and it limped after that. then you have to watch out for the TC.
