Edge insight vin not found

A buddy upgraded from his old insight to a cts and let me borrow the old insight to see if i wanted to buy it from him. The unit is pretty old, dated 11/2008. The truck it came out of is an 06 lbz and it worked perfect in there.

Plug it into my 05 lly and it just says vin not found then says to make sure the vehicle is on, which it is. Then after about 5 minutes of sitting there it says ERROR, NO CAN COMMUNICATION.

I tired a different buddies CTS in my truck and it worked perfect.

Also tried this old insight in my cousins 04 lb7 and it does the same thing. No communication. We even did a full reset on the insight to no avail.

What could be the issue or do the old insights just not work on 05 and older vehicles?

Yes, it is up to date with I believe fusion or whatever it was.

Do you have EFILive on the truck? Just curious because my Predator wont read any data as well...

Yea I have efi live and the CTS worked just fine. I asked my tuner and he said there is no reason the old insight shouldnt connect to the truck.

Figured it out. Plugged it into fusion again and it pulled up the model number for the insight. So I did a search and it says the insight 83400 only works on 06+ duramax's.

Guess I won't be buying it. Lame.
