LML Edge Insight CTS2, Pillar Gauges, or both in 2014 Denali?

I'm trying to decide whether to put a Edge CTS2 monitor, pillar gauges, or both in the new truck I bought. I've always had pillar gauges in my others, but thought I'll try a monitor in this one. I have been reading about tons of people having issues with the Edge EGT probe not lasting. I really don't want to hassle with constantly replacing probes. I thought about doing a mechanical boost, and EGT gauge, then a CTS2 monitor for other stuff. I've also just considering scratching the monitor and doing mechanical boost, EGT and rail pressure pillar gauges.

I just really like the way a monitor looks, clean and simple, but I've yet to see a decent place to mount the monitor. I hate the idea of the suction cup on the glass.

So, I guess looking for some opinions, pics of everyone's setups, etc.

Thanks,

Kyle

I have both in my truck. Edge is for back up camera and showing more accurate temps and rail pressure. Then gauges for egt, boost, and oil temp. The edge sensors are just way too much IMO. I have my edge mounted on a small stick on bracket right beside my pillar gauges. Got it on eBay for like $15.

Before I pulled my motor my EGT probe never had any issues. When I rebuilt the motor I think I lost a ground wire somewhere which has been causing my issues with my EGT probes.

It is a grounding issue because of the way they use a computer in the EAS link. I just wish they would use their own grounding wire within the harness for the probe.

I cant fine my grounding issue so I will probably go to a autometer gauge after I build my gauge pods for my dash.

Ok awesome. Do you have any pics your setup by chance?

I thought I read somewhere that some people getting replacements from edge under warranty, the one they were getting had another ground wire on it. I could be wrong though.

Edge has new style probe and only cost 25.00 to replace. Edge sensors are still cheaper then good gauges.

I have a CTS2 on my LML. It has its ups and downs. It's busy at a glance (I have to focus on it more than I like) and it just looks "aftermarket". It has a delay in its output, and it only moves in increments (egts go 5° at a time). Also my polarized sunglasses make it hard to read during the day (but that's a me problem).

On the upside, it monitors a lot of parameters, and it's easy to install.

FYI, if you're worried about the EAS probe, use the factory cold side pyro off the ecm and lower your limit by 300°.

Brandon has some good points too. The edge is sorta distracting to me at times. The gauges are just a nice sweeping motion. The edge is like a constantly changing tv lol. Each to its own. I like having both. But to be honest I don't really think I needed the cts. I love my glowshifts. Sure they aren't the highest quality and my boost gauge did fail once but for $46 I got another in 3 days. I didn't get a chance to get pics today but I'll try tomorrow.

You guys do realize you can set alerts on the cts2 so you don't have to watch them like crazy. I use to run 6 isspro gauges in my race truck. Pain to wire, pain to watch, sensors still fail, and can't watch some prime parameters. Now I just run the cts2.

I don't watch mine a whole lot just glance at it. But the constant change of numbers sometimes can be distracting to me. I'm a little weird :roflmao: but like I've said each to his own. What I've got works great for me but to someone else might be a headache

I just got edge cts2 almost a month ago. I like it. Very nice a little small so at a glance it is "busy" other than that i would use it over my stock guages any day. You need to become accustom to what they abbreviate names as to locate the guage on the screen. As to what ne-max said just set alarm. Im glad i went this route instead of a pillar full of guages.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I'm just so up in the air as to what I want to do. If I could somehow get the CTS2 to mount up at the very top of the windshield along the headliner right next to the A-pillar I may go that route. I just hate the windshield mount they provide. I think they look cheap, and eventually won't stick all the time. I've run into that with my GPS in another vehicle. I also think a 3 gauge pillar mount would look slick too. I found a picture of a 2011 or 2012 Denali that they mounted 3 pillar gauges using 4th gen Dodge factory match autometers in and surprisingly they match almost 100% and looks so clean.

On the other hand, I like the idea of the CTS2 and being able to monitor rail pressure, clear/read codes, etc.

I don't know, just really confused on what I want to do!

Here is the pic I was talking about with the factory match 4th gen dodge gauges in the Denali. I think its super clean looking!

this may or may not help...

I also don't like the lame mount they send them with, Mines in an LLY but i used a 3 gauge pillar and the edge adapter to mount the cts/cts2 to the pillar gauge mount, mine is with the original CTS, i originally had the non expandable egt probe, it failed in a year and a half, got the expandable one and it has been going for a couple years

I believe they replace them under warranty up to a year IIRC.

I don't think the CTS2 is busy when looking at it and like stated above if you set alerts for the important things you don't catch yourself watching it constantly. I like the ability to change the layout to just about whatever you want.
