I know somebody that put an 03 ECM into an 01 and now his ABS is dead. Others have said that they are running them fine, so go figure. You would need to be able to load in an 02 OS for an 01 though as the 03+ OS will be looking for the oil pressure sending unit and a few others I believe.

Are you saying the 01 and 02s dont have an oil pressure sending unit?

01-02 have a sending unit that runs directly to the cluster and the ECM doesn't monitor it directly. 03+ have a pressure sensor that is wired directly to the ECM and it in turns relays oil pressure to the cluster via the class 2 data bus.

It worked fine for me,But as said you will need to full flash the differnt op system

personally i would full flash a 02 if the truck is a 01

Simon

FWIW the wire harness is also differnt on the 03 than it is on the 01 and also as mentioned the oil press sensor
