It is cheaper to buy a new one. I just bought a new Dell for around 500. Do not get a labtop with Vista that shit sucks. The price all depends what you want on the labtop. I am very happy with Dell this is my 3rd one. There warranty is very good also.

I'm kinda thinking in those terms.

Ya Mike - My moms old laptop just took a crap - failed hard drive sector. They wanted $300 some odd dollars to repair, plus another $100 to reinstall windows and drivers, etc etc.

Nice HP or Dell laptops can be had for $500-$700 down at Best Buy, Costco, etc, or straight from the companies themselves. Warranty on the new computer is great too :D

I just bought my mom a great HP laptop for $599 and she loves it.

If you know what you want, get one from the dell refurbished site. You can save some money and they come just like new.

they are pretty easy to fix.....usually deleting alot of the junk off will help immensely.....store most of it on external drives

Ya Mike I wouldnt buy a new one for 300$ you could get a new hard drive, more ram, and you would have a much faster computer. Do you know the speed of the processor? How old is it?

the only PC i'll buy is a dell. you don't buy one cause you like it, you buy it for the warranty.

I took it in because it kept getting the "blue screen of death" is what the tech called it
then replaced the hard drive to fix that BUT the pertition in the hard drive will not allow accsess to the back up files??? and the tech also said the fan is gone

Ive now lost all my files and tunes except one:mad:
