What are the symptoms of a cp3 on its way out? I've noticed that there's a pretty significant difference in rail pressure at certain points. The most I've noticed is tonight, I rolled into it pretty hard from about 35mph, actual rail pressure was about 13k when desired was showing 24-26k. It only does this for about 5 seconds, after that it climbs back up closer to desired, but still doesn't meet desired (I think a lift pump would solve that.) Would a lift pump solve all of this or is the cp3 getting weak?

A lift pump is good wether its going out or not. Takes some stress out of the pump having to pull the fuel from the tank. When my cp3 was going I could tell a power difference like night and day. Mine commanded to 28k was actual 14k and that was it. It wouldnt go up any further. I would still recommend a lift pump even if your cp3 is bad.

I had Mark at Danville diagnose mine and he used just a tech 2. They knew it had fuel leaking somewhere and after checking injectors they came to the conclusion the cp3 was weak.

That's good news. Log it now and see how it's performing

That would be one less thing that you would have to worry about. Just like the lift pump a built trans should be a must. Especially if your looking to keep adding more power.
