My newest project is looking at the possabilities of one of these 4L85s in our trucks. The ETs will be quicker, and the gear ratios are sweet. 2.50,1.48, 1.1, .74. Stand alone computer will give us infinate tuning and no adaptive learn. Pressure will rise with throttle angle as it should. We will shed over 200 pounds and get more power to the wheels quicker. You will run faster and that's a fact.
Down Side.
The 4L85 can hold 1200 hp and 800tq at 5K. Will it hold double that tq at 2500 rpm?
It will need refreshing more often I would think and it will need a full blanket because if it blows it will scatter everything and not be rebuildable at that point.
All of the above is an educated guess on my part. A light truck will be easier on the trans and as long as the tires keep spinning the trans will be fine. Problem will be when she finaly hooks; something's going to give. Maybe.
