About to do a belt replacement on my '06 LBZ. I've watched all the YouTube videos there are to watch. Just wondering if any of you old timers have a few extra tricks up your sleeve to make the job easier? I haven't even started, but just by looking at it I can tell me and that fan shroud are going to have a squaring off......

Its been years since I read it, but I remember something about a brace/bracket on the top of the fan shroud that had to be moved to get the belt off.

Loosing it will make the cooling system suffer if you tow during the summer. Best if you keep it unless the truck doesn’t see towing

Gearwrench makes a nice serpentine belt tool I have and use regularly. they are 45 dollars on Amazon and you will use them for everything from the day of purchase. no hacking or anthing plus you release the old belt and rest said tool on fan shroud to give you leverage for intalling new belt. Its a kit that uses a wrench and pull handle with adapters that can service any serpentine belt platform hope this helps:thumb:

Not sure why everyone thinks stuff has to be taken off? :dontknow: It’s a pain in the ass but I had to do it a few times by myself in parking lots with a tiny ratchet. Just get thlike belt lined up where it needs to be and pull the tensioner and slip it on the alternator.

Did it! To be completely honest, that was no where near as a PITA as I thought it'd be.. All I did about the fan shroud was take that blot off on that top that's up by the oil tube. Then I can just push the fan shroud back. No big deal all really. After watching vids and reading I thought I was about to be in for treat.....
