Who is running a duraflite? I've been looking at them, wondering just how much more they would cost over a built Allison, are they a 4-speed? Can they be done with a trans-brake and manual valve body? Let me know guys, definetly would like to look into this, if I'm gonna drop a shit ton of money on a trans might as well get the best thing out there the first time around. Goal is a 9 second truck eventually.

Damn....... This post is just curiosity, I have no intentions nor the funds to buy one any time soon. From what I was reading on the 10-sec dmax post an Allison can get it done anyways. I really want an Allison with a trans-brake, and a reverse manual valve body. I'd put a floor shift in it, and just slam through the gears. My old Ford had a c-6 with a reverse manual valvebody and I loved slamming it through the gears, but don't know how hard it would be to get a Allison set up where you could do that.

Ok I have no idea what a bruno is? I've heard of lenco's but never messed with one. Only have a slight idea how they work.

Yeah I know. Twin turbos, dual cp3's, built motor, built trans, good suspension work, good rims and tires, lots of tuning........ $$$$$$$

you are aware there are several Diesel trucks running this setup right? you can pickup a Bruno /w Lenco for a lot less than 10,000. We are considering it for the race truck:D
true but so far no one other than Banks had had success.this latest clutch style setup may be the trick tough.
with the Duraflite you wouldnt need to worry about shifting, because you program the tranny to shift exactly were you want it.then you adjust the shifting based off results and data obtained.
as far as a transbrake, there has been proto type stuff done in the past but it didnt work well, more because of the setup of the application not because the brake didnt perform. i wouldnt be suprised at all if this became on option in the near future.
it is a very exspensive option, however until the ally gurus get it to hold, the duraflite is an extremely affordable option.i know tranny makers stand behind thier products and rebuild trannys that break quite often, but how long does it take paying 350-500 to take a tranny out and reinstall and paying a few 100 to cover shipping, plus lost time and aggravation to eat up the extra exspence of the dflite?
i plan to install a dflite in my grocery getter/beer run ride,as soon as it shows up from Boise...

Dirtymax has made several passes with it's set-up. Some converter issues but it seems to work well so Banks isn't the only one.

i meant banks so far is the only one to get the convertor issues worked out on a dmax application that i know of.the rest were still chasing some learning curve problems...

Even some of the HIGH powered dodge race trucks eat up their dodge trannies like candy, hence the reason some have gone to setups like the Cedar City Dodge that has a bruno (guess thats the tc part?) and lenco (guess that's the transmission part) and scs billet transfer case, right??? If you start lunching duraflites (which evidently WILL happen when you really put the screws to it as evidenced by Dodges) a couple times a year, then you have really screwed up in picking the duraflite because now you are burning 2-3x as much each time one fails. Looks like if it's a substantial amount more power being made than what built allisons are holding, you might as well skip right over the duraflite and get a real racing setup???

I know nothing on this stuff so I'm just fubbling through this thikning out loud. Ignore me if I've said something totally stupid out of ignorance.

If i cant get my Alli to hold ( which i really doubt we cant ) my next step will be using a stand alone controller , if that doesnt work i will skip past the Duraflite just as Mitch said and get a real racing transmission . I may change my mind but as of now that my thinking .

I guess it depends what is high horsepower. My buddies dodge runs 9.70's at 6700 lbs. (somewhere around 1400hp) and he has had very limited tranny issues. It has never let him down at the track.
But if a truck is a trailered track truck then probably skip the duraflite.

most of the problems with the guys i know eating dodge trannys are tq con issues because of super loose stalls to spool stoopid size twin turbos.if you hae no desire to drive the truck on the street, then the lenco will be a viable option.Buck had Suncoast build the duraflite, because at the time lencos were not legal. also when we talked with folks and lenco they wernt positive it would hold the weight and tq of the truck.
