dual tank vs single

we have a 02 GMC cab chassis that has dual tanks. we are changing the bed setup on it here in the next week or so and we want to see about changing to a single tank. we don't really need the 50 gallon capacity that it has now. is there a sender that we need to change to or can we use the factory sender that is in it and re-calibrate it?

it can be re-calibrated with efi live. i assume a tech2 can as well

ok. we have had problems with this sender going to empty and saying low fuel at random. so we finally got the head gaskets back on it last week and filled it up with fuel. went to get parts and it tripped again. so we was just checking before we bought a sender for this tank and then had to buy another one.

do i need a mongoose cable for the efi or can it do it without?
