I couldn't find much online, but I have a dual stage bag out of a 1500, can I use it in a my truck? Just would be plugging in the first stage.

I have a feeling I can't, because why would anything be that easy.

Not that they can't be changed, but the connector ends are for sure different where they plug into the bag. But I doubt it will work correctly anyways. I probably wouldn't chance it

I do not have any idea if it is safe or not but the intlator from the single stage will bolt on the dual stage. I swapped the airbag from a GMC suv since it looked better than the beat up one in my work truck. Again I am not saying it is smart or even safe, just that it fits.

Do not ever mix and match parts.

Just get the proper airbag from an HD. It cant possibly be that hard to find one....................

Hey Ben, since we're on this subject....if the airbags deploy, what parts does a person have to replace (besides the bags) when rebuilding the truck?

Also, are the airbag sensors (in the bumpers) the same 99-02 and 03-07 and 1500 to 2500HD?

Well i am not Ben, but i can say i needed to replace the air bag (obvious), crash sensors, and the air bag module under the passenger seat. The dealer told me it would have to have the vin programmed into the module but i didn't do it and the air bag codes still cleared. The dealer also said there was no way to reset the module or clear the "crash" event recorded. Apparently there is a few placed on line that you can send the module to that can reset it.

Just those three items. Air bag, sensors and air bag module

This was for my LB7

1500s have two, and they are not the same P/N.

As long as its just the module, sensor and bags, thats not bad. Clock spring seems to come up but IDK why unless the module fries it when it fires bag?

Don't know about now, but when I went to school on airbags back in 01, the list of mandatory replacement items after deployment was rather extensive. Used to be airbag(obviously), column, dash board support bar that the column bolted to, and the steering shafts. I think alot of this early on was due to early mechanical airbags that worked much like a shotgun with an impact pin in the center of the column that discharged them. HATED working on vehicles with them, disconnecting the batteries did nothing to disarm them.
