is it too much for the stock cp3 to handle? i've seen setups that claim to be fine up to 500 hp, but will the cp3 be happy?

TX of course
A lot of guys have them and a lift pump make 500+... I think they add wear on the CP3 especially if ran to long without a lift pump.

Db is correct. I run one before my lift pumps (to increase the life greatly of the pumps) and the stocker to catch the excess (for what it can) and the wear from the pumps (most pumps have some kind of wear and tear inside from use). But without a lift pump it can increase CP3 wear (working even harder).

Get the lift pump. I saw an increase in hp and mileage. I was getting about 17-18 with the dual filters and no lift pump. Mileage went right to 19 with the lift pump. you will have to fool the rail valve current sensor with efi or you will probably get a CEL. Or tune the pump down to 5-6psi.
